Gold Fields Rejoined World Gold Council as its Member

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Gold Council (WGC), the apex body of global gold industry, welcomed Johannesburg, South Africa-headquartered Gold Fields Limited back as its member. The Council yesterday announced the rejoining of the company after several years.

Gold Fields was one among the founding members of the WGC, when it was formed in 1987. The company had played a key role in shaping the direction of the industry trade body and formulating various innovative initiatives that delivered huge support in developing the global gold market.

Announcing the decision, Randy Smallwood, Chair of the WGC, noted that it is pleased to welcome Gold Fields back as a member of the Council. It looks forward to leverage the experience and expertise of Gold Fields, which in turn will provide it with opportunities to further advance its work and mission to sustain and stimulate the demand for gold, while promoting the social and economic benefits of gold mining, he added.

Meantime, Chriss Griffith, CEO, Gold Fields said that the company is pleased to rejoin the WGC. The Council has an important role to play in boosting access to and confidence in gold. By working along with likeminded peers, Gold Fields looks forwards to collectively demonstrate the significant role played by gold in supporting the various needs of the society, he added.
