SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) noted that the forest products industry in the country is poised to drive Canada’s economic recovery. This was outlined in the recently submitted recommendations for 2021 federal budget submitted by the association.
The Canadian forest products sector has been deemed an essential industry, at times when Covid-19 pandemic created massive disruptions across the country. However, the crisis has led to creation of challenging time for the sector businesses, employees and their communities. FPAC declared its commitment to accelerate the sector’s transformative progress, which in turn will boost the country’s economic growth.
The FPAC recommended accelerating implementation of the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) Forest Bio-Economy Framework declared in 2018 and promote partnerships and projects that allow the industry to improve competitiveness and accelerate innovation. Incidentally, the sector has 140 shovel-ready projects that could help kick start the country’s economic recovery.
