SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Aurubis Stolberg facility, which was badly hit by the flooding disaster in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate in July last year, has returned to full operations.
The company had to stop production at the plant following the flood incident. The timely evacuation of employees had prevented injuries. The clean-up operations took almost five months. During this period, it cleaned, repaired and gradually restarted majority of production facilities. In addition, the company had to purchase two large-scale units, said the company press release.

The first product from the restarted plant was delivered in November last year. The final production line was restarted in June 2022. The renovation of the administrative offices and social areas is in progress.
Roland Harings, CEO of Aurubis noted that the company had decided to completely rebuild the plant, immediately after the disaster. All the employees were financially secured with full continuation of pay. The rapid reconstruction of the plant is a great success and proof of its solidarity, he added. Furthermore, he extended sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the reconstruction works.
