February 25, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Subsided on the Index

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): As of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Chinese copper scrap prices recorded modest decline on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Aluminum and Brass/Bronze scrap prices dropped when compared with the previous day. Stainless Steel scrap prices also recorded decline. In the meantime, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices were down by CNY 300 per MT over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also declined by CNY 300 per MT each.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices registered a decline of CNY 150 per MT upon comparison with the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices recorded a fall of CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

Copper Transformer scrap prices were flat on the Index.

Cu Yokes and Harness Wire 35% Recovery scrap prices held steady.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap prices recorded a decline of CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Heater Cores prices declined by CNY 100 per MT as of Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices witnessed no change over the previous day.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions declined by CNY 150 per MT in prices over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots also were down by CNY 150 per MT.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers recorded decline by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices inched lower by CNY 150 per MT.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices dropped by CNY 150 per MT each as of February 25, 2025.

The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF were down by CNY 50 per MT each from the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of February 25, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices were flat on the Index.

304 SS Solid prices were unchanged over the previous day’s prices.

The price of 304 SS Turning also held steady on the Index.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices dipped by CNY 50 per MT each when compared with the prior day.

310 SS scrap prices reported a decline of CNY 100 per MT as of February 25, 2025.

Shred SS prices witnessed no variation over the previous day’s price.        

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded decline on the Index.

Brass Radiator scrap prices were unchanged as of February 25, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices also recorded decline by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.
