E-Waste Recycling Businesses Navigate Through Covid-19 Hurdles

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  The electronics recycling industry has quickly adjusted their operations in response to the new market conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic. To a great extent, the e-waste recycling businesses have been successful in navigating through the adverse impacts of the pandemic.

The classification of e-waste recycling and ITAD services under the ‘essential service’ category helped majority of facilities to remain open during the crisis times. The companies are hopeful that the recycling volumes may see huge surge in the forthcoming months, once the life returns to normal.

Fresno, California-based electronics recycling company ERI announced significant boost in use of recycling kits, which allows businesses and consumers to recycle their materials safely, by shipping them directly to the company, and ensure the data on them are destroyed. Also, the company has continued offering services to other recycling companies through its partnership with LS-Nikko Copper.

Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations reported significant surge in productivity despite 50% decline in ITAD volumes. The U.S. business is still slower, but partner businesses in other countries have started returning to normalcy, it said.

Meantime, New York-based electronics recycler Sunnking Inc. had recently announced creation of website CoronaBuyBack.com, which allows consumers to sell their electronics to be reused or recycled.
