E-Waste Recycler Announced New Facility in Romania

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): GreenWEEE International announced plans to build its third e-waste recycling facility in Romania. Founded in 2009, the company already operates two facilities in Buzau and Campia Turzii, Romania.

According to company press release, the company plans private fund investment of 10 million EUR towards building of the new industrial facility and purchasing of latest recycling equipment. The construction of the new plant, to be located in Buzau, will begin early-2022 and is expected to be completed by Q4 2022. The new plant will boost the company’s recycling capacity by 30% and the total number of employees to 325.

The project will be financed by OTP Bank Romania, as part of an existing syndicated loan facility.

The new plant will be capable of processing electric and electronic waste including used refrigerators and air conditioning equipment, small and large household appliances, electrical tools and computer and telecommunications equipment.

Commenting on the development, Marius Costache, General Manager, GreenWEEE said that the new plant is in line with the group’s strategic plan of continuous growth of the business through investments in a greener future. The latest innovative technologies at the plant would play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, he added.
