SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Qatar Foundation has urged community members to recycle their old electronic items, in connection with the celebrations of Qatar Sustainability Week. The e-waste, being held in partnership with Al Haya Waste Management & Projects Company WLL, commenced in October and will run until the end of this year.
The residents are encouraged to drop-off their old electronics at designated collection points. There are collection bins at Multaqa (Education City Student Center), the Penrose House (LAS Building), and Lulu Express at housing lot 4.

The items that are allowed to be dropped in these bins include desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printer and copier toners, cartridges, keyboards, televisions, scanners, audio-video equipment, mobiles, telephones, and microwaves. However, the drop-off points will not accept air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and florescent lamps.
The Foundation has decided to extend the duration of the campaign from 7 days last year to three months in 2020. This is on account of the overwhelming positive response witnessed during the previous year’s event. It must be noted that nearly 4.5 tons of e-waste were collected during 2019.
The electronic items collected during the event will be sorted and packed at the Al Haya facility and exported to designated recycling facilities in Singapore for further processing.
