SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The e-Stewards electronics recycling certification program, administered by the Seattle-based Basel Action Network (BAN), has highlighted success in its random unannounced inspections and deployment of GPS tracking technology to track the plight of used electronics.

A total of 12 facilities have successfully completed unannounced inspections since the beginning of the year. The facilities are Friendly Earth International, Inc., Seattle; BT Recycling Solutions, Mexico; Tech-Resale, Cedar City; Recycle Boise, Boise; eGreen IT Solutions, Phoenix; Natural Evolution, Tulsa; eSCO Processing & Recycling, Rogers; SEAM, Sioux Falls; Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations, Onalaska; Onsite Electronics Recycling LLC, Fort Collins; Kuusakoski, Inc., Plainfields and Cascade Asset Management, Madison, the press release said.

Eight companies allowed tracking devices to be placed in equipment, which made them incident-free. The eight companies are Comprenew Inc., Grand Rapids; ERI, Plainfield; eLoop, Export; Executive Personal Computers, Stafford; Kuusakoski Inc., Plainfield; Sipi Asset Recovery, Elk Grove Village; Sipi Asset Recovery, Hayward and Wisetek Solutions, Austin.
