New self-service electronics recycling option available in McLean County

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): McLean County residents will now be able to safely get rid of electronics on the first Saturday of the month.

Starting on Saturday, Oct. 4, a self-service electronics recycling drop-off will be available from 8 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month, said Waste Removal Supervisor Danny Edwards.

This is in addition to the regular electronics recycling drop off that is available from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The drop-off location is at the town of Normal Public Works, located at 1301 Wearriner Street.

Signs will be available where each type of electronic can be placed in the building. The items do not need to work to be recycled.

Edwards said acceptable items include computers, monitors, electronic keyboards, televisions, scanners, fax machines, copiers, cell phones, video recorders, cameras and more.
