In its annual report, WEEE showed that close to 39,000 tonnes of e-waste were collected last year – or 7,425 truckloads.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): PEOPLE in Limerick recycled an estimated 8.4 kilogrammes of e-waste per person last year.
That’s according to Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Ireland, who first began collecting electronic waste for recycling 20 years ago.
In its annual report, WEEE showed that close to 39,000 tonnes of e-waste were collected last year – or 7,425 truckloads.
Despite this, the organisation warned that the EU measurement system or measuring recycling as a percentage of sales “fails to capture the full picture of the nation’s recycling progress”.
According to the WEEE report, 18.5 million small appliances, 1.9 million lighting products, and 278,222 TVs and monitors, and 123,060 fridge-freezers were collected across the country in 2025.
