SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The latest research report published by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) predicts notable growth in consumer preference for technology products. 39% of U.S. households indicated that they are likely to buy tech products next year. The intent to buy technology products was 11% higher, when compared with the same time a year before. The growth will be mainly driven by smartphones, videogame consoles and televisions.

The CTA report noted that 53% of the U.S. households currently own a video game console. Also, 30% of households plan to buy one over the next one-year period. The smar home category continued to be led by smart speakers, with 41% now owning and 23% planning to buy one next year. Among home entertainment systems, televisions and digital streaming devices and DVD/Blu-ray players continued to be the most popular. The pandemic also resulted in increased number of U.S. consumers purchasing health and wellness devices.
Steve Koenig, VP of research, CTA noted that consumer prefer to have latest technology innovations to help them in leading a happy and healthy 21st century lifestyle. More people now see tech as essential, he added.
