BIR Appoints Dr. Helmut Kolba as New Chairman of E-Scrap Committee

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has announced appointment of new leader for its E-Scrap Committee. Dr. Helmut Kolba of Germany-based Remondis Electrorecycling GmbH has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Committee. He will succeed outgoing chairman Thomas Papageorgiou of Greece-based Anamet S.A. Meantime, Papageorgiou will continue as a member on the E-Scrap Committee, said BIR press release.

Announcing the decision, Tom Bird, president, BIR said that he is extremely happy that Dr. Kolba has accepted the position within the E-Scrap Committee. He hoped that Kolba will bring a fresh vision and new initiatives to the group of industry experts. Furthermore, he thanked outgoing chairman Thomas Papageorgiou for his dedicated service to the company over the past several years.

Kolba is the managing director of Remondis Electrorecycling GmbH. Before joining the company in 2010, he has also served as managing director of Sony Austria as well as for Austria-based UFH. He has also served as the chairman of Brussels-headquartered WEEE Forum.
