The two-stream systems are adopted by nearly 38% local authorities.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In a latest report, DS Smith has outlined the details of various recycling systems in the UK.
DS Smith claims that the UK does not have a single, standardized system for gathering rubbish and recycling products. Local authorities are setting up the collection methods while taking into account a number of local considerations. As a result, there are regional differences in the quantity of bins per household and their purposes.
The three primary forms of recycling collection are comingled, two stream, and multi stream, to name the most significant.

Comingled systems are the most widely used recycling collection system in the UK, with almost 46% of local authorities using them. All recyclables are disposed of in the same bin under this arrangement, whereas garbage and organic waste are placed in different bins. Paper, card, glass, and plastic are all acceptable materials. With recycling rates as low as 41%, cameled systems often have lower rates than the other two systems.
Approximately 38% of local bodies have chosen the two-stream approach. Four containers are provided to households: two for recyclables, one for organic waste, and one for trash. It is estimated that this system has a 43% recycling rate.
At 53%, the average recycling rate of multi-stream recycling collection systems is the highest of all recycling collecting systems.
