DS Smith Partnered with Carrefour to Launch Unique Cardboard Toys

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith France, in collaboration with French multinational retail corporation Carrefour, announced launch of 100% responsible and sustainable large-format cardboard toys.

Produced in 3 variants-boat, house and cardboard rocket and in 200,000 copies, the tots will be distributed from March 28 in all Carrefour hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience stores throughout France as well as through the website www.carrefour.fr. These XXL toys could be painted and coloured by all in a family, using their own imagination and creativity. The toys will be produced at the DS Smith Seine-Maritime plant and will be priced at €10 each.

The toys are made by recycling used and recovered packaging, mainly sourced from Carrefour stores. It offers a sustainable alternative to non-recyclable toys. The packing of the toys is done by people with disabilities, thus giving the project a social dimension as well, the company press release noted.

Thibault Laumonier,CEO DS Smith Packaging France said that the company is proud to partner with Carrefour to develop the new range of unique toys. It will further boost its fight against plastic pollution by focusing more on circular economy, he added.
