The UNICEF project, currently in operation in Ivory Coast, collects plastic waste locally and converts them into building blocks for new classrooms. The project helps poor families earn small income, which in turn helps to create a better living situation for themselves and their children. At the same time, the construction of new classrooms ensures that more children get opportunity to attend schools.
DS Smith also plans to support as many as 100 biodiversity projects in the communities where it operates by 2025.
