North American Copper and Brass Scrap Prices Edge Lower on Index- March 18, 2026

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The North American scrap metal prices remained mostly unchanged on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The only scrap varieties to report changes were Copper and Brass/Bronze.

• Copper: Marginal decline
• Aluminum: Mostly flat with the exception of E.C. Aluminum Wire
• Brass/Bronze: Edged lower
• Stainless Steel: Saw no variation
• Steel: Flat trend

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of Alternator scrap dipped by $0.02 per Lb over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing fell by $0.19 per Lb. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices were also down by $0.19 per Lb. The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged lower by $ 0.19 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and  #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery were down by $0.05 per Lb each on the Index. #3 Copper-Light copper prices recorded a dip of $0.19 per Lb.

The prices of Copper Radiator scrap recorded a fall of $0.10 per Lb on the Index.

Copper Transformer Scrap prices were down by $0.01 per Lb over the prior day.

Cu Yokes prices reported a slight decline of $0.02 per Lb on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices remained stable as of March 18, 2026.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Romex Wire prices saw a dip of $0.05 per Lb each over the day.

Also, Heater Cores prices edged lower by $0.04 per Lb on the Index.

The prices of Scrap Electric Motors, Starters and Sealed units edged down by $0.01 per Lb.

Xmas Lights also reported a decline of $0.01 per Lb from the previous day’s price levels.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

1100 Scrap prices remained flat over the day. The prices of 3003 Scrap were flat on the Index. The prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe also were unchanged.

The prices of 6063 Extrusions held steady over the day.

Meantime, prices of 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions remained flat when compared with the prior day.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe remained unchanged over the day. Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Radiators/Fe prices held steady. Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices remained unchanged as of March 18, 2026.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices were up by $0.01 per Lb on the Index.

Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, and MLC Clips held steady at the previous day’s price levels.

Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices also remained unchanged.

The prices of Old Cast and UBC witnessed no change over the previous day.

Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF prices also were unchanged.

Steel Scrap Prices

• #1 Bundle: No change
• #1 Busheling: Flat trend
• #1 HMS: Held steady
• HMS 80/20: Stable pricing

Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel also saw no change in prices as of March 18, 2026.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS and 301 SS prices reported no change.

304 SS Solid prices also remained flat over the previous day.

304 SS Turning witnessed no change in prices as of March 18, 2026.

309 SS and 310 SS prices saw no change in price from the previous day’s level.

330 SS prices were flat.

Also, 316 SS Solid prices remained unchanged on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region witnessed a modest decline on the Index.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap and Brass Radiator prices were down by $0.05 per Lb over the previous day’s prices.

85/15 Brass Scrap prices fell by $0.07 per Lb as of Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices recorded a decline of $0.01 per Lb each from the previous day's price levels.

Red Brass, Red Borings and Yellow Brass prices recorded a dip of $0.05 per Lb on the Index.
