BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal benchmarks remained unchanged across all major categories on the ScrapMonster Price Index on October 2, 2026. The market recorded its second consecutive session without any price movement, reflecting a lack of significant catalysts or fresh market drivers.
Copper: All listed grades held steady.
Aluminum: No day-over-day movement for a second straight session.
Brass/Bronze: Red Brass, Yellow Brass, and Brass Radiator were unchanged.
Stainless Steel: Every listed grade held flat, following the previous day’s flat trend.
Steel: #1 HMS and Cast Iron Scrap remained unchanged.
Copper Scrap Prices
Copper scrap prices were unchanged across all listed categories.
#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded no day-over-day movement.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery were also unchanged.
Copper Transformer Scrap and Cu Yokes maintained their previous-session benchmarks.
Cu/Al Radiators, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, and Heater Cores recorded no variation.
Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units also remained flat.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
Aluminum also showed no day-over-day movement, extending the flat trend during the prior session.
6063 Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots were unchanged.
Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers held steady.
E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast and Old Sheet recorded no variation.
UBC and Zorba 90% NF also remained unchanged.
Steel Scrap Prices
#1 HMS and Cast Iron Scrap both recorded no change on October 2, 2026.
The two benchmark grades had also remained unchanged during the preceding sessions.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
201 SS prices remained stable
304 SS Solid held steady
304 SS Turning registered no change
309 SS followed a flat trend
310 SS prices remained unchanged on the Index.
316 SS Solid prices were flat compared to the previous day.
Shredded stainless steel prices also showed no variation on the Index.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
Brass and bronze scrap prices in China showed no variation on the Index.
Brass Radiator prices held steady
Red Brass followed a flat trend
