Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Show Mixed Trends on Index– March 23, 2026

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese scrap metal prices recorded mixed performance on the ScrapMonster Price Index  as of Monday, March 23, 2026.

• Copper: Across-the-board surge
• Aluminum:  Modest increase
• Brass/Bronze: Witnessed jump
• Stainless Steel: Broad-based decline
• Steel: Held steady

Copper Scrap Prices

The #1 Copper Bare Bright and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing witnessed a notable jump in prices of CNY 2,000 per MT each over the previous day.

The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also surged by CNY 2,000 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up by CNY 1,000 per MT.

The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery recorded a jump of CNY 700 per MT over the previous day.

Copper Transformer and Cu Yokes prices witnessed a rise of CNY 100 per MT each on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap prices were up by CNY 700 per MT.

Heater Cores prices recorded an upward movement of CNY 800 per MT as of Monday, March 23, 2026.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were up by CNY 100 per MT upon comparison with the prior day’s prices.

Also, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices edged higher by CNY 100 per MT each on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

·  6063 aluminum extrusions recorded a day-on-day increase of CNY 50 per metric ton.

·  Aluminum ingot prices also advanced by CNY 50 per metric ton compared to the previous trading session.

·  Aluminum radiator and aluminum transformer prices remained unchanged on the index.

·  E.C. aluminum wire saw an upward movement, gaining CNY 50 per metric ton as of March 23, 2026.

·  In the scrap aluminum segment:

• Old cast aluminum prices increased by CNY 50 per metric ton.
• Old sheet aluminum prices also rose by CNY 50 per metric ton.

·  However:

• Used Beverage Cans (UBC) prices showed no change from the previous day.
• Zorba 90% INF grade prices remained stable, with no variation reported.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of March 23, 2026.

Cast Iron Scrap reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

• 201 SS: Witnessed a decline of CNY 50 per MT
• 304 SS Solid: Recorded a dip of CNY 100 per MT
• 304 SS Turning: Edged lower by CNY 100 per MT
• 309 SS: Down by CNY 150 per MT

The price of 310 SS witnessed a dip of CNY 200 per MT on a daily basis.

316 SS Solid prices recorded a fall of CNY 150 per MT on the Index.

Also, Shred SS scrap prices were down by CNY 100 per MT as of Monday, March 23, 2026

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded increase as of March 23, 2026.

• Brass Radiator: Edged higher by CNY 400 per MT
• Red Brass: Up by CNY 600 per MT
• Yellow Brass: Recorded a jump of CNY 600 per MT
