BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices mostly recorded modest gains on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Copper, aluminum and stainless steel scrap prices moved higher, while brass/bronze scrap and steel scrap remained steady.
Copper scrap prices gained across select categories on the Index.
#1 Copper Bare Bright and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing both surged CNY 150 per MT compared with the previous day. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also increased CNY 150 per MT.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% Recovery climbed CNY 20 per MT, while #2 Insulated Copper Wire with 50% Recovery held steady on the Index.
The rest of the scrap categories, including Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu/Al Radiator Scrap, Harness Wire with 35% Recovery, Cu Yokes, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units, remained flat compared with the previous day.
6063 Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots each increased CNY 50 per MT from the previous day.
Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers witnessed no change.
E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, and Old Sheet increased by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.
Meanwhile, UBC and Zorba 90% INF prices held steady from the previous day's prices.
#1 HMS prices recorded no variation on the Index.
Cast Iron Scrap also recorded no change.
201 SS scrap prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT.
304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning and Shred SS recorded an increase of CNY 100 per MT from the previous day's prices.
309 SS and 316 SS Solid each saw a rise of CNY 150 per MT.
310 SS posted the largest stainless steel move, jumping CNY 200 per MT.
Brass and bronze scrap prices in China recorded no change on the Index.
Brass Radiator, Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices held steady when compared with the prior day’s prices.

#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded the largest copper scrap increases, with each gaining CNY 150 per metric ton. #1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% Recovery also increased, but by a smaller CNY 20/MT.
6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Ingots, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast and Old Sheet each increased by CNY 50 per MT. Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers were unchanged, as were UBC and Zorba 90% INF.
