Chinese Scrap Metal Market Posts Mixed Price Movements on the Index– September 21, 2026

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices posted a mixed performance on the ScrapMonster Price Index on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Copper and brass/bronze scrap prices moved higher, while aluminum scrap prices edged lower. Stainless Steel and Steel scrap prices remained unchanged.
Copper Scrap Prices
Copper scrap prices rose across all major categories on the Index.
#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing each gained CNY 600 per MT.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire increased CNY 300 per MT, while #2 Insulated Copper Wire rose CNY 100 per MT.
Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.
Cu/Al Radiator Scrap advanced CNY 100 per MT, while Heater Cores gained CNY 250 per MT.
Other copper categories recorded no variation over the previous day’s prices.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
Aluminum scrap prices moved lower across several categories.
6063 Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots each declined CNY 150 per MT from the previous day.
Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers recorded a decline of CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.
E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast and Old Sheet each fell CNY 150 per MT.
UBC and Zorba 90% INF prices fell by CNY 50 per MT each.
Steel Scrap Prices
#1 HMS prices held steady on the ScrapMonster China Steel Scrap Price Index. Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.
Both grades continued the recent run of flat daily pricing.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
On the ScrapMonster China Stainless Steel Scrap Price Index, 201 SS prices held steady over the previous day’s prices.
Also, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, Shred SS, 309 SS, 316 SS Solid, and 310 SS prices recorded no change on the Index.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
Brass/bronze scrap prices recorded a modest jump on the China Brass/Bronze Scrap Price Index. Brass Radiator increased CNY 50 per MT, while Red Brass and Yellow Brass each edged higher by CNY 100 per MT.
