Copper Extends Its Recovery While Stainless Steel Reverses Direction
China's three major clean copper grades gained CNY 250/MT on November 5, following increases of CNY 350/MT in the previous session.
That brings their cumulative two-session recovery to CNY 600/MT. However, the increase only partially offsets the CNY 1,400/MT decline recorded on November 3, leaving these benchmarks CNY 800/MT lower over the three sessions.
Stainless steel also reversed its previous day's weakness. Grades that declined on November 4 returned to positive territory on November 5, with gains ranging from CNY 250 to CNY 350/MT among the affected grades.
Operator takeaway: Copper's consecutive daily gains mark a recovery from earlier losses, but the three-session comparison shows that the rebound remains incomplete. Meanwhile, stainless steel's direction has changed sharply. Scrap processors and traders should monitor each grade's cumulative movement rather than relying on the latest session alone.
