Corona to Join Hands with Partners to Recycle More Plastic

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Corona- the leading global beer brand, announced that it plans to recycle 279 tons of ocean plastic waste, in co-operation with its partners. The pledge is being made in honor of the 15th World Oceans Day and will help the company make significant progress towards achieving its previously stated goal of net-zero plastic footprint in China.

As part of the initiative, Corona has partnered with HEMA Stores to launch an innovative program called Plastic Pay, which will encourage consumers to recycle their daily plastic waste by paying them. The program is scheduled to be launched on World Oceans Day at HEMA in Shenzhen.

The partnership will make available branded eco-friendly shopping bags at HEMA Stores, in which customers can collect their daily plastic waste. Additionally, the in-store plastic recycling machines will allow customers to dispose of their plastic waste in return for discount coupons, which in turn can be redeemed at HEMA stores.

The other initiatives by Corona include partnership with Tmall and Cainiao Logistics to reduce plastic in transportation by replacing regular vibration-reduction packaging with environmentally-friendly packaging. In addition, it conducts regular beach clean-up activities, in partnership with several organizations.
