Conifex Timber blamed acute transportation challenges as the reason for the reduced operating schedule. The challenges have been impacting the whole industry since November last year and continue to persist, it said.

Ken Shields, Chairman and CEO commented that the company has been experiencing persistent rail transportation challenges, which in turn have impacted its operations. The decision was difficult and Conifex regret the impact this may have on its employees, their families and the community, he added.

The company is currently engaged in consultations with its engineers and contractors on finalizing a work plan on resuming operations at its power plant.
