Company of Merchants Acquired Three Large Texas-Based Metal Recycling Companies

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Company of Merchants, a prominent owner-operator of premier industrial facilities in the Gulf Coast region, including metal recycling, vehicle storage and collision centers, has acquired three well-established Texas-based metal recycling companies: C&D Scrap Metal, H-Town Scrap Metal, and Fort Bend Recycling.

What's happening

This strategic move will see H-Town Scrap Metal and Fort Bend Recycling rebranded and operating under the renowned C&D Scrap Metal name, effectively expanding the region's recycling facilities to three locations within the Greater Houston market.

The newly acquired facilities will elevate the customer experience and accessibility for residential, contractor and commercial/industrial customers by incorporating innovation in design, operations and service. Among the enhanced features are transparent weighing processes, competitive pricing, technological advancements and safe environments—all aimed at efficiently guiding customers from start to finish, according to a news release.

What they offer

The company offers residential recycling services for items of various sizes, from aluminum cans to appliances and automobiles. Additionally, commercial/industrial businesses can take advantage of C&D's tailored recycling programs.

C&D Scrap Metal accepts all types of metal, including copper, aluminum, stainless steel, brass and more, providing scrap metal recycling services through their independent handling, processing and shipping of nonferrous and ferrous materials.

The impact

As H-Town Scrap Metal and Fort Bend Recycling combine forces under the C&D brand, the company's workforce will be “strengthened” to nearly 100 dedicated employees, according to the release. However, Community Impact could not receive an answer clarifying if that means the company acquisition will create 100 new jobs, or “strengthen” the benefits of 100 current employees.

The new C&D locations opened in spring 2023, with further expansions throughout Texas planned for later this year, according to the release.
