CleanBC Plastics Action Fund to Cut Plastic Waste and Boost Recycling

A provincial statement states that the government of British Columbia plans to give more than $8 million in funding to First Nations, local companies, and organizations.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): NDP MLA Steve Morissette claims that the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund has played a significant role in funding creative initiatives that increase recycling and lessen plastic waste in British Columbian communities.

Since its launch in 2020, the fund has invested more than $35 million in a range of initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste. 34 new initiatives will be supported this year, bringing the total number of projects that received money to 63 in the previous years. More than 240 full-time employment have been created as a result of the Plastics Action Fund's first two phases, and more are anticipated to be created during the third phase.

A provincial statement states that the government of British Columbia plans to give more than $8 million in funding to First Nations, local companies, and organizations. More than $1.5 million will be allocated to 14 Indigenous-led projects. With this, the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund will have funded 31 projects totaling over $3.7 million.

According to Environment and Parks Minister Tamara Davidson, the programs provide innovative and fresh approaches to assisting residents of the province in leading waste-free, hygienic lives. In addition to boosting local economies, the projects create more jobs in communities, Davidson continued.
