CIAC Members Recognized for Innovation in Fight Against Plastic Waste

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Two members of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) Plastics Division- GreenMantra Technologies Limited and Cleanfarms Inc. have been recognized for their innovative and exemplary efforts to reduce plastic waste in Canada.

Brantford, Ontario-based chemical recycler GreenMantra Technologies Limited will be awarded $300,000 as part of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada’s challenge to Canadian firms to develop innovative, efficient and cost‑effective ways to recycle single-use personal protective equipment (PPE), said CIAC news release yesterday.

Meantime, Etobicoke, Ontario based Cleanfarms Inc. was chosen by the Government of Manitoba to operate a stewardship program to manage the collection and recycling of agricultural plastics. The program will offer designated collection sites throughout the province for producers to drop off their used grain bags and plastic baler twine, and that too at no cost to customers. Cleannnfarms Inc. will pick up, transport and recycle these materials from the collection sites.

Elena Mantagaris, Vice-President of CIAC Plastics Division said that it is delighted to have its members selected to develop the important solutions.
