Century Aluminum Declared Restart at Mt. Holly Smelter

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Century Aluminum Company- the U.S.-based producer of primary aluminum announced that it will host a ceremonial restart and jobs announcement at its Mt. Holly smelter in South Carolina. The company has been making significant capital investment at the smelter, aimed at boosting its production capacity and creating additional well-paid jobs in the region.

The ceremonial restart event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 3, at 1.30pm ET. The event will be attended by dignitaries including The Honorable Henry McMaster, Governor of South Carolina, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, Century Aluminum CEO Michael Bless and incoming CEO Jesse Gary.

Recently, the company had announced new officer appointments. It had appointed John DeZee as its Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Matt Aboud was selected as the Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development. Also, the company had announced appointment of Jesse Gary, currently Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel to succeed Mike Bless as Century’s President and CEO. Mike Bliss will retire effective July 1, 2021.

The company had reported net loss of $140 million or $1.55 per share during the initial quarter of the current year.
