ArcelorMittal and Tata Steel Dominates worldsteel 9th Steelie Awards

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The winners of all seven categories of the 9^th Steelie Awards were announced during the Annual Dinner of the worldsteel’s General Assembly 2018 held in Tokyo, Japan on 16 October, 2018. The awards are given away to individuals and member companies in recognition for their outstanding contributions to the global steel industry over the past one-year period.

Two of the awards-Excellence in digital communications and Excellence in communications programmes were newly introduced this year. Also, ArcelorMittal and Tata Steel won two awards each.

The winner of the Excellence in digital communications award was Tenaris. The shortlisted companies included JSW Steel Limited, POSCO, Tata Steel Limited and Ternium. The ‘Innovation of the year’ award was won by Acciaierie Bertoli Safau S.p.A., for their Rotoforgia innovative project. The Water Master Plan implemented by ArcelorMittal Brazil won the ‘Excellence in Sustainability’ award.

ArcelorMittal’s use of LCA to support the Steligence® project was adjudged the winner of ‘Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment’ award. The learning program for product and process fundamentals by Tata Steel Europe was honored with ‘Excellence in education and training’ award. The program titled #DoorsofIndia - A journey by Pravesh by Tata Steel Limited won the ‘Excellence in communications programmes’ award.

Chris DAVIS, Content Director, EMEA Metals of S&P Global Platts was selected as the ‘Journalist of the year’.
