Alupro: Aluminum On Track to Hit Record-Breaking Recycling Rate

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent statistics released by the Environment Agency suggests continued increase in aluminium packaging recycling rates during the second quarter of 2021.

A total of 42,243 tonnes of aluminium packaging were collected for recycling in Q2 this year. This is almost 5% higher when matched with the same quarterly period a year before. The collection had totalled 40,903 tonnes in the corresponding quarter a year before. The cumulative collection during the first six months of the current year totalled 84,090 tonnes, which is higher by almost 7,000 tonnes from Jan-June ’20 period, said PRN data.

According to Environment Agency, 67% of the annual target has already been achieved. The sector is on track to surpass its collection goal and achieve a record-breaking recycling rate, it added.

Tim Giddings, General Manager, Alupro commented that the impressive collection figure is attributed to increased public awareness about the immense benefits of aluminium recycling. The collection tonnages are expected to continue positive growth during the rest of the year as well. The sector is over two-thirds of the way to achieving our 2021 target at only half way through the year, he added.
