ALBA Group Breaks Ground on New PET Recycling Plant in Hong Kong

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Germany-headquartered ALBA Group has officially broken ground on a new PET and HDPE recycling plant in Hong Kong. The plant, which is a joint venture project involving ALBA Group, Baguio Waste Management & Recycling Limited and Swire Coca-Cola Limited, is expected to further expand ALBA Group’s engagement in Asia.

According to company press release, the plant will process polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) waste in Hong Kong. It will have a capacity of more than 35,000 tonnes per annum. The plant is expected to begin operations in second half next year. The high-tech sorting mechanism at the plant will produce food-grade PET flakes, which in turn will be reused to produce new bottles. The HDPE pellets will be recycled in the production of new high-quality products.
