AISI: U.S. Steel Shipments Inched Higher in March

It should be mentioned that the steel shipments had totalled 7.036 million net tons in February of this year.

AISI: U.S. Steel Shipments Inched Higher in March

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):U.S. steel shipments in March of this year were slightly higher than those in the same month last year, according to monthly data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Furthermore, shipments increased compared to the prior month.

AISI data shows that the steel mills shipped 7.725 million net tons in March 2025. This is a 5.3% increase over sales of 7.338 million net tons in the same month in 2024. Shipments increased throughout the month, showing a 9.8% increase over the previous month. In February of this year, 7.036 million net tons of steel were shipped, it should be noted.

The United States' domestic steel mills shipped 22.197 million net tons in the first three months of 2025. In comparison to the same period last year, this indicates a little 1.7% gain. Between January and March of 2024, these mills produced 21.820 million net tons of steel.

The shipment volumes of several steel products for the current year are compared in this study. The first three months of this year saw a 2% decrease in corrosion-resistant sheet shipments compared to the same period last year. Shipments of hot rolled sheets and strips fell by 7%. Shipments of cold rolled sheets and strips, however, rose somewhat by 1% annually in comparison to 2024, according to AISI.
