SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent weekly domestic production data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) shows that during the week ending February 15, 2025, U.S. weekly raw steel production fell by about 3.20%. This was based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.
Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.670 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. The utilization rate of the domestic mill capacity was 77.7%. It's important to remember that last year, during the same week, production reached 1.726 million NT, with a somewhat higher capacity utilization rate of 77.7%.

When compared to the previous week, which ended on February 8, 2025, when crude steel output reached 1.675 million NT at a capability utilization rate of 75.2%, the production for the week ending February 15, 2025, decreased by 0.3%.
With 750,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. During the week, 487,000 net tons were produced in the Great Lakes region. North East-122, Midwest-247, and Western-64 are the other regions' productions (in thousand net tons).
As of February 15, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 10.879 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 74.3%. This represents a 0.3% decrease from the same period in 2024, when production was 10.912 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 75.4%.
