According to the data, the country’s finished steel products imports surged by 31% month-on-month to 2.06 million net tons.
In January, the US’s imports of line pipe and cold rolled sheet surged by 60% and 59% respectively. Also, the imports of reinforced bars climbed 58% and that of cut length plates and standard pipe both increased by 42%.
In Addition, South Korea ranked the largest offshore supplier of finished steel with 314,000 net tons in January, followed by Turkey’s 142,000 net tons; Japan’s 128,000 net tons; Germany’s 107,000 net tons and China’s 100,000 net tons.
