Recycler Association publishes bale spec for PP containers

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers (APR) has published polypropylene (PP) bale specification. The specifications are aimed at reducing the contamination of PP recycled content material available in the market. Till date, bale specifications have been focused on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and HDPE (high-density polyethylene) containers.

According to the Association, the release of bale spec for PP containers is a big step forward in recycling of plastics. The recycling of containers has expanded beyond PET and HDPE. The recent release is intended to help the marketplace in understanding the most optimal bale specification for PP material.

The specifications will aid material recycling facilities (MRFs) to increase their profitability by providing necessary information as to what bale specifications enjoy highest value in the marketplace. The bale specs are also meant to address one of the biggest challenges facing the recyclers- contamination of materials. The specs are designed to reduce the contamination significantly.
