JISF: Japanese steel exports declined 2.1% in June '14

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): According to most recent data released by Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s exports of common steel products dropped during the month of June this year. This is the eighth straight month that the steel exports by the country have declined.

As per statistics, Japan exported 3.61 million tons of common steel products during June ’14. The exports dropped by 2.1% when compared with the previous month exports. The country’s common steel products export had totaled 3.69 million tons during May ’14. The export to other Asian countries witnessed sharp decline during the month.

The exports to South Korea declined 10.8% in June ’14 when compared with the exports during the same month a year ago. The Japanese exports to South Korea totaled 595,000 tons in June. The exports to Thailand too were down by 4% year-on-year. Japan exported 444,000 tons of common steel products to Thailand during June this year.

The steel exports to Taiwan dropped significantly during the month of June this year. The country’s steel exports to Taiwan totaled 332,000 tons, 12.7% lower when compared with the exports a year before. Japan’s steel exports to Taiwan had totaled 380,298 tons in June last year.
