Japanese Iron, Steel production rise 2% y-o-y in July: Ministry

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production declined 1% month-on-month in July while the original index indicated a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same month last year, as per the revised Indices of Industrial Production report published by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

According to the report, in July the Japanese iron and steel production index increased 2% year-on-year, while Japan's seasonally adjusted iron and steel production index decreased 1% in July compared to June.

Meanwhile, in July Japanese producers' iron and steel shipments rose by 1.7% and iron and steel inventories were down by 1.5%, both compared to the previous month.

In July, the seasonally adjusted crude steel production index including semi-finished steel in Japan decreased by 1.3% month-on-month and was up by 1% on year-on-year. Producers' crude steel shipments in July were down by 8.4% compared to the previous month and down 0.5% year-on-year.
