Italy's Steel exports to non-EU countries rise sharply in Jan-May: Federacciai

ROME (Scrap Monster): Italy's steel imports from non-European Union (EU) countries declined by 42.1% year-on-year to 2.626 million metric tons (mt) in the first five months of the current year while its steel exports to non-EU destinations totaled 2.505 million metric tons, up 27.4% year-on-year, as per the latest data released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai.

In particular, in the given period Italy's long steel imports from non-EU countries totaled 205,000 mt, down 37.3%, while flat steel imports from such countries amounted to 1,031,000 mt, down 59.6%, both year-on-year.

In addition, Italian long steel exports to non-EU desinations reached 841,000 mt, up 49.9%, while flat steel exports to these destinations totaled 900,000 mt, increased by 31.2%, both year-on-year.
