ISRI video epitomizes economic benefits of US scrap recycling industry

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has launched a short video titled “Green Effect: The Recycling Industry’s Economic Impact” that narrates the economic impact created by scrap recycling industry.

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has released a new video featuring the critical role played by the US scrap recycling industry in terms of its contributions to the national economy. The short video is titled “Green Effect: The Recycling Industry’s Economic Impact”.

The video showcases the vital contributions of scrap recycling industry to the country’s economy, in terms of employment and tax generation. Apart from following sustainable, environment-friendly operational procedures, the industry stands out to be a major driver of the overall US economy, the video states.

The video is being created with the intention of creating more awareness and knowledge about the benefits of scrap recycling industry among general public, academicians and industry professionals from various other sectors such as manufacturing. According to Robert Wiener, President, ISRI, the video will help top educate many outside the industry on the crucial role played by recycling industry as the first link in manufacturing chain. The industry has generated thousands of green jobs and contributed immensely to local and federal tax revenues.

“Green Effect: The Recycling Industry’s Economic Impact” highlights several aspects of recycling. For instance, the industry generates over 150,000 direct jobs. The industry generates $4.39 billion in annual state and local revenue. Nearly $6.76 billion is paid in federal taxes by the industry along with its employees.

The video is based on a study conducted by John Dunham and Associates. The study had concluded that the U.S. scrap recycling industry plays a prominent role as an economic leader, job creator and major exporter
