Canadian pig iron production declined by 4.5% to 7.3 million metric tons in 2011, according to the data released by Statistics Canada (StatCan).

VANCOUVER (Scrap Monster): Canadian pig iron production declined by 4.5% to 7.3 million metric tons in 2011, according to the data released by Statistics Canada (StatCan).
According to StatCan, Canada’s total iron and scrap charged to furnaces amounted to 14.5 million tons in 2011, down by 0.8% from a year ago.
Canada's total steel pipe production in 2011 rose 0.4% to 2.3 million tons and its total shipments of steel pipe products increased 3.4% to 2.55 million tons.
Furthermore, Canadian steel pipe exports in 2011 amounted to 916,313 tons, rising by 0.7% year on year.
