CHICAGO (Scrap Monster):  A fire that broke out in a Joliet junkyard Thursday evening was put out within an hour thanks to the help of the junkyard’s owner.

Joliet Fire Department Captain Mark Vershay said firefighters responded to the fire at around 8:48 p.m. at Ace Iron and Metals at 11 3rd Avenue in Joliet.

A 20-foot-tall pile of scrap metal was ablaze. The owner then arrived and used a crane with a magnetic hookup to break the pile down so firefighters could put it out, Vershay said.

No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation.
