But, these were partially offset by output rises in Peru and Europe, ILZSG noted.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the International Lead and Zinc Study Group's (ILZSG) most recent monthly statistics, the world market for refined zinc concluded the first half of 2025 in surplus by 47 kt.
Global zinc mine production increased by a moderate 6.3% in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. Production increases in Australia, China, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were the primary cause of this. Additionally, manufacturing throughout Europe increased, particularly in Russia, Ireland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year's H1 production of refined zinc metal was 6.644 million tonnes, which was 2.1% less than the 6.786 million tonnes produced the previous year. Brazil, Kazakhstan, Japan, and the Republic of Korea all had decreases in production. However, ILZSG pointed out that these were somewhat countered by increases in output in Europe and Peru.
Increased use in nations like China, India, and Europe was the primary cause of the little 0.9% increase in the world's consumption of refined zinc metal. United States and Brazilian declines largely offset them.
In June of this year, the monthly production of zinc mines worldwide was 1.081.40 million tonnes. During the month, 1.156.5 million tonnes of refined zinc metal were produced, whereas 1.183.7 million tonnes were used.
