The world zinc mine production is forecast to rise by 4.3% to 12.43 million tonnes in 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG), in its recently held Spring meetings held in Lisbon, held a review of the current outlook for trends in world supply and demand for zinc during 2025.
The trade association projects that by 2025, the world's demand for refined zinc metal will have increased slightly by 1% to 13.64 million tonnes. It is anticipated that China's consumption of refined zinc metal will increase by 0.9% this year. In 2024, there was a 1.9% decrease in usage. ILZSG anticipates a rise in demand in Turkiye, India, and Bangladesh. The Republic of Korea, however, is probably going to see a decline in demand.

In 2025, it is anticipated that global zinc mine production would increase by 4.3% to 12.43 million tonnes. The increase follows three years of decline, mostly due to both anticipated and unplanned mine closures.
Australia, China, Mexico, Peru, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Europe are expected to have the biggest increases in mining production. There will be a significant decrease in the US to somewhat balance these increases.
The Group projects that global production of refined zinc metal will increase by 1.8% to 13.73 million tonnes in 2025. While output from Italy, Japan, and the Republic of Korea is expected to experience a decline in production, Chinese output may recover 3.8%.
In 2025, ILZSG predicts that the world's supply of refined zinc metal will surpass its demand. A surplus of about 93,000 is anticipated.
