The trade body has launched a new website www.votesteel.com, which details the immense benefits of steel beverage cans.

According to worldsteel, steel cans are easy to cool. The strength of steel ensures that contents are kept fresh and breakages are prevented. Further, they can be recycled again and again with no loss of quality. Recycling of every single can results in energy savings equivalent to those required to power a television for one hour. Incidentally, steel is the most recycled packaging material on the planet. Further, the magnetic property of steel cans makes it easy to recover from any waste stream.

Highlighting the benefits of steel beverage cans, worldsteel points out that they can be put directly into furnaces and melted down to produce new steel, thereby resulting in significant energy and raw material savings as compared with new steel making process.

Innovations in can-making process have led to lighter and thinner steel beverage cans, available in lots of different shapes and sizes. Some cans even change color in accordance with changing temperatures. Lastly, it reminds consumers to look for special magnet logo on cans to ensure that they are made of steel.
