BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to latest industry data, the country’ total exports of wire rod and its finished products recorded 20% growth year-on-year during the initial two months of the year.
The exports totaled 1.315 Million Tonnes during the period, 19.82% higher when compared with the exports during the similar two-month period in 2013. The exports of common steel wire constituted 192,999.15 tonnes, down 5% year-on-year. The stainless steel wire exports during the period dropped marginally by 1.53% y-o-y to 55,854.80 tonnes.
The steel wire rod exports totaled 259,287.39 tonnes, 3.4% down over the previous year. The common wire rod exports totaled 2,547.31 tonnes, declining 35.32% over the previous year. However, the exports of hot rolled stainless steel wire rod climbed higher by 82.54% to 19,435.14 tonnes. The exports of hot rolled alloy wire rod during Jan-Feb this year was 1.293 Mt, up 19.41% when compared with the exports during the corresponding two-month period last year.
Meanwhile, the country’s imports of wire rod and finished products during the two-month period this year totaled 94,900.50 tonnes, 68% higher when compared with the imports during the similar two month period a year ago.
