Taiwan's major wire rod producers cut prices for August

Major Taiwanese wire rod producers including Dragon Steel, Feng Hsin and Quintain Steel have announced cut in wire rod prices for the month of August.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Major Taiwanese wire rod manufacturers-Feng Hsin and Quintain Steel has decided to cut the August prices for carbon steel wire rods. Earlier, Dragon Steel had also announced its decision to drop the prices for wire rods and bars for the month.
Quintain Steel has decided to reduce the list prices for the month of August. After adjustment, the list price for A1-killed wire rods will be NT$ 17,200 per ton for the month. The blast furnace killed steel wire rod list prices will be lowered to NT$ 16,200 per ton during August this year. The company stated that the company’s billet cost is lower than that of Dragon’s. Further, it hoped that the new wire rod prices would prove competitive as per existing domestic market conditions.
Meantime, Taiwanese Feng Hsin has decided to lower its wire rod, bar prices by NT$ 700 per metric ton for August. According to the company, base price for low carbon steel wire rod for the month of August this year will be NT$ 16,800 per ton. The base price of middle and high carbon steel wire rod for the month will be NT$ 17,400 per ton. Also, the new base price for low alloy steel wire rod will be NT$ 22,000 per metric ton.
