Wieland to Invest in State-of-the-Art Copper Recycling Center

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Wieland announced investment of €80 million in a new state-of-the-art copper recycling center at its existing primary production site in Vohringen, Germany.

According to the company, the new facility will add approximately 80 kt of annual recycling capacity. This in turn is part of the company’s strategy to boost its worldwide recycling capabilities. It must be noted that Wieland had broken ground on a new copper recycling facility in Shelbyville, Kentucky in June this year, which will start operations by end-2023. The new German facility is expected to commence operations in early-2025.

Dr. Erwin Mayr, CEO, Wieland said that the new facility marks the next important milestone in its global sustainability roadmap and help the company move forward to achieve its ambitious decarbonisation and circular economy goals. Also, the facility will lead to creation of additional future oriented jobs at the German production site, he added.
