Weyerhaeuser Announced Acquisition of North Carolina and Virginia Timberlands

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Weyerhaeuser Company announced agreement to acquire high-quality timberlands in North Carolina and Virginia from Roanoke Timberlands LLC. Approximately 117,000 acres of timberlands were acquired from the Roseburg Forest Products subsidiary for a sum of $375 million.

The purchased timberlands are situated in the U.S. South's robust and expanding sawlog and fiber industries. Over the first five years, an average annual timber-free cash flow return of 5.1% is anticipated. Additionally, according to a corporate news release, the mature planted pine age class is anticipated to yield an average yearly harvest of 7.4 tons per acre during the first five years.

Subject to standard closing conditions, the acquisition is anticipated to close in the third quarter of the year. After the purchase is finalized, Weyerhaeuser will have three mills, two distribution facilities, and more field offices in addition to owning or managing roughly 744,000 acres of timberlands in North Carolina and 150,000 acres in Virginia.

The company is eager and in a good position to take advantage of the great off-market opportunity to purchase outstanding timberlands, according to Devin W. Stockfish, president and chief executive officer. He noted that by the time this deal closes, the company will have purchased almost $1.1 billion worth of premium timberlands since the start of 2022.
