Western Forest Products Lends Support to Community Food Banks

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Western Forest Products Inc. announced its decision to donate $100,000 to different community-based organizations that deliver food bank services in the communities where it operates. The donations to various organizations will change depending upon the size of the community and will provide support to their ongoing community programs.

Don Demens, President and Chief Executive Officer, Western Forest Products noted that the need for food bank services were identified, based on its regular conversations with community leaders and constant engagement with employees. The company takes pride in being an active community partner in providing support to building up healthy and sustainable communities, he added.

Carla Gastineau, Executive Director, Arlington Community Food Bank stated that the partnership will help to end hunger. Peter Sinclair, Executive Director, Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank noted that it is thankful to the company’s effort to ensure long term food security in Nanaimo and throughout Vancouver Island. Meantime, Abby Sauchuk, Director of Development of Nanaimo Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank also welcomed the partnership with Western Forest Products.

The donations will be distributed to the needy through food banks and community groups that operate on the coast of B.C. and the state of Washington.
