Don Demons, President and CEO, WFP said that it is thrilled to welcome Calvert’s employees to Western. The acquisition is an exciting new chapter for the company as it seeks to position as a market leader in the growing solid wood engineered product segment. The acquisition is in line with its strategy of moving up the value chain by adding to our portfolio of value added products, he added.

The transaction was entirely financed with cash on hand. It covered three Calvert manufacturing facilities located in Washougal, Washington and Vancouver, Washington. The three facilities together account for a production capacity of approximately 35 million board feet of glulam per year. Incidentally, Calvert is a producer of high quality glulam beams in multiple species, including Douglas fir, southern yellow pine and yellow cedar.

Dough Calvert, owner of Calvert Company will remain with WFP in a consulting capacity.

The acquisition will help WFP to capitalize on the growing North American Mass Timber building market.
