Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- May 30, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends for the different scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of May 23–29, 2025, are given in the report that follows: 

Copper Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, there was a decline of 4.30% in copper scrap prices.

North America

Over the past week, #1 Copper Bare Bright's price dropped by 4.21%. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing closed at $4.45 per pound, down 4.3% from the beginning of the week. Similarly, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing went down from $4.55 to $4.35 per pound, recording a weekly fall of 4.4%.

As of Thursday, May 29, 2025, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index dropped 4.21% for the week, from $4.75 to $4.55 a pound. The price of #1 Copper Wire & Tubing decreased slightly over the previous week, from $4.65 to $4.45 per pound. The average price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped 4.4% to $4.35 per pound by the conclusion of the week.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index fell 4.21% for the week, from $4.75 to $4.55 per pound, as of Thursday, May 29, 2025. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing went from $4.65 to $4.45 per pound, a little reduction from the prior week. By the end of the week, the average price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had decreased 4.4% to $4.35 per pound.

USA West Coast

Over the course of the week, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright dipped by 4.12%, from $4.86 to $4.66 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing declined by 4.20% last week. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased by 4.29% from $4.66 to $4.46 per pound by the end of the preceding week.

China

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index had a little increase during the previous week, which ended on May 29, 2025. The weekly closing price was CNY 77,400 per MT, which was more than the price of CNY 76,800 per MT the week before. Compared to the previous week, the price of #1 Copper Wire & Tubing went up by 0.82%. Furthermore, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 0.83% at the conclusion of the week, from CNY 72,100 per MT to CNY 72,700 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the week before. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained at $5,200 per tonne on the Index, unchanged from the previous week. Furthermore, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained constant during the week ending May 29, 2025.

Brass Scrap Prices

The price of brass scrap went down by 1.42% over the previous week.

North America

Red Brass dropped from $2.89 to $2.85 per pound by the conclusion of the week. Yellow Brass also experienced a minor decline on the Index. The price of the commodity dropped from $2.74 to $2.70 per pound, a decrease of 1.46%.

Over the last week, Red Brass's price declined by 1.38%. At the end of the week, Yellow Brass's price per pound also edged lower from $2.74 to $2.70.

USA Midwest

The price of Red Brass dropped from $2.83 to $2.79 per pound, a 1.41% decrease from the previous week. The Index also revealed a decline in Yellow Brass's price. The commodity's price fell by 1.51%.

USA West Coast

Red Brass was down 1.38% from the previous week, trading at $2.85 a pound as of Thursday, May 29, 2025. Additionally, Yellow Brass's price per pound decreased by 1.48% from the previous week.

China

Red brass and yellow brass prices increased during the week ending May 29, 2025. The price of Yellow Brass grew slightly by 0.42% to conclude the week at CNY 35,600 per MT, while the price of Red Brass increased by 0.39% to end the week at CNY 38,450 per MT, according to the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded marginal increase of 0.23% over the previous week.

North America

Compared to the previous week, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 0.91%. The price of 6063 Extrusions was $0.88 per pound during the week ending May 29, 2025. There was no weekly variation in the price of Old Cast on the Index. Furthermore, UBC's prices did not change from the previous week.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire reported a slight increase of 0.91%, rising from $1.10 per pound to $1.11 per pound. During the week ending May 29, 2025, the price of 6063 Extrusions was flat when compared to the previous week. The Index showed that the price of Old Cast has held steady. Additionally, UBC's prices witnessed no variation on the Index during the previous week.

USA Midwest

Since a week ago, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has gone up by 0.91%. The price of the product finished at $1.11 per pound last week, up from $1.10 per pound the previous week. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions was unchanged from the previous week. The prices of Old Cast and UBC did not change from the previous week, according to the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price witnessed a marginal jump from $1.10 per pound to $1.11 per pound over the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that the price of 6063 Extrusions witnessed no change week-on-week. The prices of Old Cast in the Index were flat over the week. Additionally, UBC's pricing too held steady as of May 29, 2025.

China

The price of E.C. aluminum wire concluded the week at CNY 19,100 per MT, up 0.26% from the week before. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price went up by 0.28% from the week before. As of May 29, 2025, Old Cast's price was up 0.28% on the Index. Over the course of the week, UBC prices on the Index increased from CNY 12,350 per MT to CNY 12,400 per MT.

Europe

The price of Old Cast was flat at $1,050 per tonne for the entire week. The ScrapMonster Index also shows that UBC prices remained same from the previous week at $1,250 per tonne.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded a decline of 1.56% over the previous week’s prices.

North America

According to weekly pricing trend, an analysis of 304 SS Solid revealed that the commodity's price registered a decline of 1.56% over the previous week, ending the week at $0.63 per pound.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices recorded a weekly decline of 1.56%. During the week, the prices dropped from $0.64 per Lb to $0.63 per Lb on the Index.

USA West Coast

For the week ending May 29, 2025, 304 SS solid prices dropped by 1.56%.

China

The price of 304 SS Solid decreased somewhat during the week. In the week of May 29, 2025, the price of the commodity fell from CNY 10,150 per MT to CNY 10,100 per MT.

Europe

The price of 304 SS Solid did not change from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported a decline of 2.6% when compared with the previous week.

North America

The price of the #1 HMS recorded a decline of 4.48% in the past week. The price of the commodity closed at $320 per MT. During the week, the price of Shredded Auto Scrap stayed constant at $370 per MT. As the previous week, the price of HMS 80/20 ended the week at $265 per MT, down by 3.64% week-on-week. Also, the price of #1 Busheling were down by 2.33% during the week.

Over the course of the week, HMS 80/20's price decreased by 3.64%. With a weekly decline of 2.33%, the Index's #1 Busheling prices closed the week at $420 per MT.

USA Midwest

The prices of #1 HMS have fallen by 4.48% in the past week. Shredded Auto Scrap was flat during the week. The HMS 80/20 pricing for the Index registered a decline of 3.64%, falling from $275 per MT to $265 per MT. #1 Busheling prices dropped from $430 per MT to $420 per MT, down by 2.33% during the week ending May 29, 2025.

USA West Coast

Over the past week, the price of #1 HMS has decreased by 4.48%. The price of the commodity was $320 per MT at the conclusion of the week. Over the course of the week, prices for Shredded Auto Scrap also stayed constant at $370 per MT. The price of HMS 80/20 decreased by 3.64% from the week before. At the end of the week, the price of #1 Busheling had also dropped by 2.33% to $420 per MT.

China

The #1 HMS prices remained unchanged from the previous week. The price of the commodity held steady at CNY 1,630 per MT.

Europe

The price of #1 HMS remained steady at around $170 per MT for the duration of the week, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of Shredded Auto Scrap stayed at $130 per MT for the whole of the week, just like it had the week before.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for Lead Scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The Scrap Auto Batteries pricing charts showed that the commodity's prices had not moved from the week before. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

Over the previous week, there has been no change in the Index's price for scrap auto batteries. At CNY 6,750 per MT, the commodity's price held steady during the week ending Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Europe

Throughout the week, the price per ton of scrap auto batteries stayed at $820, which was the same as the week before.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded no change in prices week-on-week.

North America

At $0.76 per pound, the price of New Zinc Die Cast remained constant. The index also showed no change in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast from week to week. The commodity's price as of Thursday, May 29, 2025, was $0.64 per pound.

USA West Coast

Throughout the week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast remained flat at $0.76 per pound. Furthermore, there was no change in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast according to the Index. The commodity's price was flat at $0.64 per Lb.

Europe

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. At $800 per Tonne, the price remained unchanged week-on-week.
